Piedmont Cadet Program
Piedmont Airlines’ Cadet Program is designed to help the most promising future pilots make a smooth transition from instructor to mainline pilot.
Through a seniority-based flow through program, pilots at Piedmont graduate to guaranteed jobs at American Airlines, the largest airline in the world, from flying the youngest fleet among the U.S. legacy carriers. Benefits include:
- $5,000 in partial tuition reimbursement paid to you as you build time
- Cadet Instructor placement, if required, at a partner university, college and flight academy
- Compensation totals $16,200

Step 1 - Enroll at L3
The first step in your journey to becoming an Airline Pilot is to enroll in our Professional Pilot Program or Airline Pilot Track. Both of these programs include accredited curriculum and airline oriented training that can take you from no experience to becoming a Certified Flight Instructor in as little as 15 months!
Step 2 - Become a Piedmont Cadet
The next step is to apply to the Piedmont Cadet Program. You become eligble after earning your Flight Instructor Certificate. If accepted, you will be able to earn tuition reimbursemnt of $5,000!
Step 3 - Build Your Experience
Those that complete our Professional Pilot Program or Airline Pilot Track are guaranteed an interview to Flight Instruct at L3 in Florida. Our Instructors fly an average of 100 hours per month and 96% of our cadets who stay at L3 to instruct are placed at an airline!
Step 4 - Become an Airline Pilot
After reaching the FAA mandated 1500 hours of flight time, you will be eligible to earn your Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. As a Piedmont First Officer, you will recieve $50 per hour and an $18,000 signing bonus.
Step 5 - Fly at American Airlines
In about five years, Piedmont pilots can make the jump to the world’s largest airline, American, all while taking home the industry-leading pay rate for first officers!
