    Meet our graduates

  • Marc Pearce - Staff Engineer (Journey through Engineering)

Hi, my name is Marc, and I work in the Electrical and Configuration department as a Hardware Release Manager for A320 and A330 Full Flight Simulators. I have always enjoyed designing and building just about everything, and was determined to pursue an engineering apprenticeship as soon as I finished school. Having seen the Flight Simulators here at L3, I knew that this was the company, and the product that I wanted to work on; nothing else could compare!

My apprenticeship taught me many valuable skills, but also gave me the opportunity to travel the world, meeting new customers and learning new cultures. Throughout this time, I moved through higher education, where I completed a HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Having achieved the HND, I wanted to learn more, and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree. The company sponsored me through university, where I was able to use this opportunity to develop new systems and processes to be used in my day to day role. I achieved a BSc with Honours in Engineering and Management Studies.

I joined L3 14 years ago as an apprentice, and within these last 5 years I have progressed to a senior position, with a fulfilling job managing the A320 and A330 engineering design. My role requires a lot of communication and close working with other departments, ensuring that we are able deliver the best products to our customers. But, what is most rewarding, is that in this role I am able to be creative, innovative and able to influence the direction that our products go in.

  • Ray Daniels - Graduate Engineer in Hardware Engineering (MEng Aerospace Engineering from University of Surrey)

I joined L3 in July 2013 as a placement student during my degree. Since then I have been a sponsored student whilst finishing my degree and I have now been working for L3 full time in the hardware engineering group as a graduate engineer for over a year.

L3 has helped me with becoming a competent engineer, opening opportunities for me and guiding me along my professional career. I have been lucky enough to gain many experiences and knowledge of engineering in a professional environment at my time with L3. I’m really proud to say I help design our products and help make pilots training the best it can be. Not to forget, flying the full flight simulators is a great perk!

Outside of work I am an avid fan of all things SpaceX and Tesla, following all the latest news and innvoations coming from those industries. I enjoy visiting theme parks whenever possible and I regularly go-kart at the local indoor track hoping to get a new personal best.

  • Lewis Rawlinson - Graduate Engineer in Hardware Engineering (MEng Aerospace Engineering from University of Bath)

Before joining L3, I studied at the University of Bath, earning a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering. During my degree I completed a year in industry, working within in-service support for hydraulic actuation in the aerospace industry. This gave me good experience working in an engineering office. At the end of my degree I worked in a small team to build and fly a human powered aircraft, ultimately being featured in an article for ‘The Engineer’ magazine.

Since starting at L3, I have been given a broad spectrum of tasks to work on, ranging in duration and technical content. I have found working at L3 to be very rewarding so far and have been given a lot of freedom over my work and responsibility. A highlight for me has been designing a portable simulator nicknamed PoDD. This project has allowed me to be creative and realise my own designs.

Outside of the office, I am a triathlete, occasionally training alongside a colleague. Working at L3 has provided me with plenty of opportunities to socialise from formal meals, karting and events, to casual meetups and nights out.
