Flight Instructor Recruitment Executive: UK & Europe - Southampton

Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to strengthen our UK and European Flight Instructor recruitment team and recruit a commercially-minded recruitment executive to coordinate the 2020 Flight Instructor Campaign across the UK and Europe. This role will allow L3Harris to develop and grow relationships across our UK and European Academies to hire high caliber flight instructors as part of the 2020 growth plan and beyond.

Bringing with you a wealth of knowledge, you will have experience in the full lifecycle of recruitment and selection in a very competitive and niche market. You will work closely with the Airline Academy Recruiters, HR Business Partners, Marketing and Operations Training Services Team and own complex high volume Flight Instructor recruitment numbers against the strategic plan. You will collaborate with UK and Europe stakeholders as well as with internal stakeholders, with a proven track record of delivering solid resourcing capabilities in a fast paced, aviation regulated training environment.

Primary purpose of the role:


  • Identify, design and deliver appropriate attraction solutions for Flight instructors (FIs) across UK and Europe to support our business strategy with a primary focus on delivering FI resource in line with our workforce plan.
  • Use innovative and cost effective ways to advertise FIs vacancies via external channels and assess various recruitment methods and select the most appropriate and cost efficient route.
  • Continuously build an external pipeline and pro-actively source for high quality candidates
  • Collaborate with the FIs Recruiters to review opportunities to improve our attraction methods including partnering with key stakeholders on our employer branding, website presence, social media channels, advertising campaigns.
  • Plan and co-ordinate internal and external career events.
  • Provide weekly up to date analysis of FIs attraction across UK and Europe to help inform strategic direction.
  • Support with first line telephone interviews and assessments

Core responsibilities will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Review recruitment materials to be used to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Design and write copy for FI job adverts
  • Liaise with the Creative team to generate strong attraction material
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure compliance with corporate branding and secure corporate sign off, where required
  • Co-ordinate timely and effective attractions campaigns
  • Upload FI job adverts to various job boards and media
  • Liaise with external job boards and suppliers
  • Directly source candidates using a variety of social platforms
  • Ensure all FI employment contract templates are up to date and capture any new employment legislation
  • Ensure all contracts are issued to new FIs along with all relevant supporting documentation
  • Liaise with successful candidate to ensure all signed contractual and supporting documentation is supplied in a timely manner and prior to a start date
  • Undertake all pre-employment checks and ensure all relevant licences and qualifications are valid
  • Track and monitor the advertising spend
  • Respond to all FI enquiries in a polite and efficient manner
  • Ensure all candidates receive a positive experience with L3Harris
  • Ensure HR systems and relevant recruitment spreadsheets are up to date on a weekly basis
  • Raise Purchase Requisitions in SAP and ensure payment is made



Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable track record in delivering high volume recruitment campaigns and knowledge in the very best candidate attraction methods
  • Demonstrable experience of the challenges of volume recruitment where there is competition for talent, preferably in the aviation industry
  • Knowledge and recent experience of UK and European recruitment strategies and methodologies
  • Solid understanding and experience of the recruitment lifecycle
  • Ability to deliver on both recruitment attraction and execution
  • Recent creative and digital recruitment experience and ability to write attrative recruitment copy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Proven organizational and recruitment skills with demonstrable success in managing a variety of tasks and/or activities whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively a varied and demanding workload to time and quality deadlines
  • A collaborative and flexible approach with evidence of looking for solutions rather than problems
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, ideally up to intermediate level
  • Ideally worked in a fast-paced, changing business environment
  • Pro-active, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Experience of using Taleo
  • A friendly attitude with a passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Previous operational aviation training industry knowledge and experience would be an advantage
  • The ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role


Qualifications and educational requirement:

  • A background in HR/recruitment would be preferable but could be balanced with relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Flight Instructor qualifications would be advantageous
  • Passion for recruiting
