Infrastructure Technician - with travel to other UK sites

We have an opportunity for someone with solid skills in the implementation and management of core infrastructure technologies to join our team and to take the lead on complex infrastructure related projects including data centre centralisation and network topology design and implementation. You will be able to carry out such technical tasks with minimal external support whilst working as much as possible with internal resources.  Technical problem solving and solution design must be a strong attribute.

The ideal candidate will have excellent presentation skills and be able to build solid relationships with our US colleagues and external suppliers. You’ll have the ability to manage these relationships going forwards and be able to work with the US and local teams. Experience working in a Defense, Aerospace or similar highly regulated market will be beneficial.

You will also be responsible for BAU support of the infrastructure across our numerous sites, this will include management of OS and Application updates, hardware firmware updates and our backup strategy. You will adhere to our change control process and work in line with best practices according to the ITIL framework and L3Harris corporate policies.

Core responsibilities will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Technical design and implementation of solutions according to business initiated projects
  • Capacity planning and management
  • 3rd line BAU support of infrastructure
  • Patch management of infrastructure and applications
  • Supplier liaison


Essential skills and experience:

  • Virtualisation technologies, specifically VMware
  • NetApp Storage
  • Veeam backup
  • Microsoft infrastructure stack
  • Networking using Aruba and Cisco equipment
  • Experience designing and implementing improvements to networking and infrastructure systems
  • History completing complex projects in the data centre – from migrations to upgrades
  • Dell Servers & Storage
  • Good documentation of procedures and practices

Qualification and educational requirements:

  • ITIL
  • VCP
  • MCSE
