Mechanical/Electrical Apprentice

We’re looking for the next generation who will continue to innovate in our business and deliver to our customers within the aviation industry. An Apprenticeship position in our Hardware Engineering team will see you gaining invaluable experience in the real world. You will be working alongside a fully skilled and experienced team where you will share in the everyday challenges, develop new skills and acquire a fascinating insight into our business. The organisation uses a wide variety of technologies and business systems so there is huge scope for you to learn and excellent opportunities to expand your skillset.

Person Specification

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who really want to make the most of a hands on Apprenticeship working in a complex, international and fast paced environment, pushing the boundaries of what can be learnt and experienced during an Apprenticeship. You will be actively involved in carrying out assigned hardware engineering tasks under supervision, in a timely, accurate, budget- compliant and complete manner, taking account of applicable standards, local and company processes.

The right candidate will have;

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

  • 4 GCSEs grade 4 or above to include English, Mathematics and Science (a Technology based GCSE would be an advantage) or a minimum BTEC Level 2 in an appropriate field.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Willingness to approach any task with enthusiasm
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal level of supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with his/hers peers and supervisors at all times
  • Team player, flexible working, open minded, proactive in moving the company forward
  • Displays energy, drive, agility and resilience in achieving work-related goals

Over the period of the Apprenticeship Key Responsibilities and Task will include:

  • Execute assigned tasks using appropriate tools and processes, considering all aspects involved
  • Participate in Design Reviews as required
  • Provide regular status updates to supervisor(s) as required Develop familiarity with appropriate tools and processes Support bid process activities as required
  • Take ownership, make decisions, share information, authority & responsibility with others to encourage initiative and move decision making and accountability through the business
  • Contribute to the design and development of products, equipment, processes, systems or services
  • Under guidance, use engineering knowledge and understanding to acquire and apply technical and practical skills
  • Provide regular status updates to supervisor(s) as required
