Quality Assurance Engineer - Crawley

The Quality Assurance Engineer will work as part of the Quality team ensuring adherence to and management of the company’s Quality and Safety Management System.

The role will ensure that efficient processes, high quality, and safe standards are defined and maintained at all times during the simulator lifecycle (design, procurement, production, test & integration, installation, acceptance, certification and in-service support) that meet internal, customer, legislative, certification body and corporate standards & requirements.

The individual will work closely with all other departments and functions including compliance auditing, performance KPI measurement and process improvements, as well as with suppliers and customers.

Whilst primarily focused on internal product and production quality assurance and QMS management, the individual will work closely with the Supplier Quality team with a sharing of workload and tasks to meet the workload and business needs.

Core responsibilities will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Updating and managing the Reference System and Quality Management Systems
  • Ensuring that the operation adhere to defined processes, work instructions and standards
  • Improving the processes and work instructions through continual improvement and lessons learnt in conjunction with the process owners to ensure they are efficient, safe and meet the business need.
  • Ensuring that all reviews (design, programme, customer and supplier) areheld against appropriate criteria, with minutes logged and resulting actions are managed.
  • Ensuring safety of the delivered products including performing safety audits and power on reviews, and assuring the Declaration of Conformity is fully produced for signoff
  • Monitoring, reporting and investigating internal product, production and supplier non-conformances including investigating root causes and providing countermeasures to eradicate reoccurring issues
  • Providing support for external audit bodies (such as ISO 9001:2015) and carrying out internal functional and process audits as part of an audit programme.
  • Maintaining metrics & KPI dashboards, measuring and reporting on operational performance
  • Work with internal functions and suppliers to improve their on-time delivery and quality levels to meet internal and external customer requirements and expectations
  • Support, monitor and audit new and existing suppliers and first articles to ensure compliance to appropriate standards and requirements



Essential skills and experience:

  • Ability to work within a programme team
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience in production, quality or an engineering discipline
  • Experience/knowledge of ISO standards and auditing is desirable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support the programme if required
  • Able to work away from home to support short duration trips (1 – 5 days typically)
  • Leading by example to ensure that we deliver a high quality product every time

Qualification and educational requirements:

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Sciences, Manufacturing, Production or Quality
