Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI) - NZ

As a result of L3 Commercial Training Solutions' continued worldwide growth, we are looking for an experienced Theoretical Knowledge Instructor to join our ATPL Ground School team in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Core duties will involve, but not be limited to:

  • To teach a range of EASA ATPL subjects
  • To prepare and update EASA ATPL course materials in accordance with the NPA 29 syllabus, and in preparation for NPA 2016-03
  • To assess and act as an internal moderator in appropriate subject areas
  • To prepare, invigilate and moderate appropriate EASA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge exams
  • To monitor and report on trainee progress
  • To provide guidance and support to individual trainees
  • To maintain accurate course records

Essential skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with trainees
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and carry out assignments to completion
  • International outlook with the ability to deal comfortably with various cultures
  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Office/Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational and customer service skills
  • Ability to create a positive learning environment for trainees

You will be expected to deliver at least three EASA ATPL subjects, preference will be given to candidates who have recent teaching experience and can deliver some or all of the following subjects; 

  • Principles of flight
  • Flight planning
  • Meteorology
  • Mass and Balance

Qualification and educational requirements:

Aviation experience is essential, ideally as a commercial pilot, military aviator, Air Traffic Control or ground operations. It is preferred that you hold a NZ CPL, multi-engine instrument rating and exam passes in all of the NZ CAA or EASA ATPL exams (or of an alternative reputable aviation authority). Experience instructing the ATPL sllyabus or in the aviation industry will be an advantage.
