by L3 Commercial Aviation on 07/17/2018

L3 Commercial Aviation announced today a contract with Qingdao Airlines to provide four new training devices for its training center in Longkou, China. The airline carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the devices’ technology and capabilities before committing to the contract. The simulators will be delivered in 2019 and 2020.

L3 will provide two A320 RealitySevenFull Flight Simulators (FFS) and two Flat Panel Trainers (FPT) for the same aircraft. The advanced Flat Panel Trainers have the potential to support elements of the airline’s training procedures that are currently carried out on higher-level devices, helping to improve the cost and efficiency of its training programs.

“We are delighted that Qingdao Airlines has selected our products to enhance and grow its training capabilities,” said Robin Glover-Faure, President of Commercial Training Solutions, which is part of L3 Commercial Aviation. “It’s a testament to the quality of our industry-leading devices that Qingdao is putting its trust in us to support its long-term training needs.”

“The high-quality training of our pilots is an important focus for our business,” said Mr. Jun Yang, General Manager of Qingdao Airlines Training Center. “This investment in state-of-the-art technology and products from L3 will support the training and development of our existing pilots and new recruits.”

L3 has invested in expanding its training product portfolio, offering a complete spectrum of training tools that supports pilots throughout the training continuum, from the initial steps through recurrent and upgrade training. Qingdao Airlines’ new FPT devices will enable its pilots to experience higher-level training tools at a much earlier stage in their program, allowing them to test themselves and finesse more advanced procedures and competencies before progressing to the higher-fidelity devices.
